Commercial
Big picture thinking with holistic solutions. Helping commercial buildings make the big technological leap.
Commercial
Our commitment, experience, and leadership in the field of EV charging allows us to offer top quality and resilient solutions for the entire range of commercial needs. From the build out of charging station distribution conduit and proper wire sizing, to the placement and size of junction boxes and transformers, to metering, adding wifi networks, and cellphone boosting systems - we’ve done it all. Our comprehensive experience with networking and load-management technology allows flexibility in designing solutions for your project.
Phase I: infrastructure - it is our preference that we design and build this portion up front.
Phase II: distribution of conduit from the basic infrastructure that brings power to the charging stations.
Phase III: installing stations - easy and effortless whether it happens tomorrow, next year, or in a decade. This continuity of design and engineering seamlessly addresses power management and aesthetics. Is all of this overwhelming? We’re here to help.
We have clients at every level of need and commitment. Whether starting with one charging station or 100, we bring the same design considerations and planning to bear on the current project, and what that project will grow into over time. We are not affiliated with any one manufacturer or technology; we recommend the best fit for our client.
Art Museum
We worked closely with a well-known Brentwood art museum and Adopt-A-Charger in 2015-2016 to design a multi-charger system for their burgeoning EV population. The high art infused even the parking garage, where we honed our design and installation skills to meet the elevated standards of the staff overseeing their first EV project.
This first project led to several others at both their Brentwood and Pacific Palisades locations. In 2021 we completed a second round of stations at the Brentwood location, giving staff and visitors over 100 level 2 stations and 4 DC Fast Charging stations.
The museum has seen many benefits from EVs, and have transitioned many of their fleet vehicles (including a new shuttle) to EV. Maintenance costs were much reduced, and with over 100 charging stations, any issues with fueling their fleet has disappeared. We are immensely proud to collaborate with this world-class organization.
Elleven/Evo
These two neighbors were the first to take the giant leap with us to future-minded infrastructure. Each building has over 200 units and a 4-level garage with hundreds of parking spaces. We designed unique systems for each building that will allow over 75% of the units to have an EV charger, and a scalable solution that can grow with their charging needs. The use of a load management system means that the available electricity supply can be utilized to its fullest, deferring the need to install more capacity.
By combining these massive infrastructure installations with the LADWP rebate, the eventual cost to the HOA was zero. All current and future residents enjoy the benefit of easy access to EV charging, with lower costs and a more aesthetically pleasing finished product.
LA Zoo
Adopt-A-Charger partnered with LADWP for this cornerstone EV project for the LA area. To stay within budget, we worked closely with LADWP to coordinate the site prep and installation work, eliminating redundant tasks and allowing each party to take on the tasks they were uniquely prepared to complete. This site is one of the most heavily used in LA, allowing thousands of Angelenos to move freely about the city in their EVs without having to return home to charge, or pay exorbitant rates to a charging network operator.
Children’s Hospital LA
Our relationship with Adopt-A-Charger led us to partner with an equipment manufacturer for this project. We helped adapt the original design to the on-site conditions, completing the original project at the same budget despite the change in scope.
This project was so well utilized that we were asked to come back the following year to add more charging stations. Because of the thoughtful design choices we made in the original project, we were easily able to add on to this project. We have more tricks up our sleeves at this site, just waiting for Phase III!
OceanAire
This historic A. Quincy Jones building came to us anticipating a day when their existing electrical equipment would not be able to support their EV charging needs. As it turned out, they had plenty of electrical capacity, but were running out of the physical space to install the necessary equipment.
By working closely with the HOA and the city of Santa Monica, we were able to design a streamlined system that can supply power to charge an EV for each homeowner, using the existing electrical infrastructure, and without the need to upgrade the incoming power supply from the Utility.
After completing the streamlined system, the HOA asked us to come back and complete a distribution system so that every homeowner would have easy access to power within 30’ of their parking space. By installing the distribution conduit on the front end, the HOA has ensured that each element of the system will be used to its maximum ability, lowering the costs to fully build out charging for every unit in the building.
Malibu Creek State Park
We’ve always loved the outdoors, and it’s really something special when you can access such treasured places in an EV. The CA State Park system partnered with Adopt-A-Charger and provided us the opportunity to broaden the number of natural places that could be accessed with an EV.
This site received two charging stations for use by visitors and park staff. This project was key in allowing the State Parks to transition much of their transportation to EVs, and also allows Angelenos to make a day or overnight trip up the coast without fear of running out of power.
The Woolsey Fire in 2018 completely demolished the neighboring site at Leo Carillo State Beach, which made it all the more important for us to get the Malibu Creek stations replaced when they, too, sustained damage during that fire. We donated some of our time and expertise to assess the site, and Adopt-A-Charger donated equipment to keep the charging up and running!
Seacliff State Beach
Seacliff State Beach sits on a beautiful bluff near Santa Cruz with residences behind it, and amazing views of the ocean to the southwest.
This ended up being a logistically complicated project, and one where we were grateful to Adopt-A-Charger for their support. Careful investigative work, along with productive conversations with park personnel very familiar with the site revealed that there was existing capacity that was no longer utilized. Then there were the accessibility requirements, inclimate weather, scheduling all the excavation and installation work to avoid summer crowds, and also moments of real beauty. Pulling wire as the sun set over the Pacific ocean is one of our most cherished memories.
Chino Hills State Park
This park connects the more natural areas of north Orange County to those of south LA county, with lots of trails for hikers, bikers, and horseback riding. The perfect location for some EV charging! This project was sited at the new Discovery Center. One of the last projects we completed as part of a statewide grant with Adopt-A-Charger, the budget was tight. We successfully worked with the park and AAC to bring the project in on budget and on time.
